Abstract

Indonesia as an archipelagic country, possesses a significant potential in the maritime industry, including
shipyards that play a vital role in ship repair activities. However, repair projects often experienced delays
that resulted in higher costs, disrupted sailing schedules, and reduced customer confidence. This study
aimed to analyze delays and develop a rescheduling plan for a tanker repair project at a shipyard in East
Java using the Precedence Diagram Method. A descriptive quantitative approach was applied to map
project activities, durations, and interdependencies. The findings revealed that the repair project was
divided into several activities, and one major adjustment was the cleaning process, which could be
conducted in parallel with several other tasks. The rescheduling reduced the total project duration from 60
days to 56 days. The critical path consisted of general service, docking, propulsion system, undocking,
administrative completion, and sea trial with ship delivery. These results demonstrated that rescheduling
with the Precedence Diagram Method improved efficiency and reduced the risk of delays, providing
practical implications for project management in ship repair.
