ANALISIS PERBANDINGAN VARIASI FILLER PADA SAMBUNGAN LAS ALUMINIUM 6061 TERHADAP SIFAT MEKANIK, STRUKTUR MIKRO, DAN NILAI KEKERASAN
Abstract
This research analyzes the effect of using variations of filler metal, ER4043 and ER5356.
on welding with aluminum 6061. This research describes the mechanical properties, microstructure,
and hardness. This research aims to answer four questions: 1. How does the tensile strength compare
between ER5356 and ER4043 when welding aluminum 6061 with the GTAW method. 2. How does the
ductility of the weld metal and HAZ compare between ER5356 and ER4043 using the bending test. 3.
What is the hardness comparison between ER5356 and ER4043 in butt joint and mockup specimens. 4.
What is the difference in microstructure between ER5356 and ER4043 in butt joint and mockup
specimens.Experiments involved two variations of filler metal and two types of welding joints as
specimens. The methods used include tensile test, Vickers hardness test, bending test, and microscopic
analysis. The results showed that ER5356 filler metal produced higher tensile strength (282.74 MPa)
than ER4043 (206.58 MPa). Specimens with ER5356 filler metal had better flexibility in the bending
test. The weld metal hardness was much higher for ER5356 filler metal (113.63 HV) than ER4043
(75.87 HV). Microstructure analysis indicated the presence of more Mg2Si structures in the specimen
with ER5356 filler metal. In conclusion, ER5356 filler metal is stronger than ER4043 in both butt joints
and mockups..
