ANALISIS HARDFACING HV 800 SEBAGAI PENGGANTI CTC 6000 PADA DISCHARGE CHUTE DUMP HOPPER
Abstract
CTC 6000 overlay products is used as a protection for the main material from abrasion
attacks. However, the drawback of this product is the limited availability of materials that can hamper
the production process. Performing the overlay hardfacing method on ASTM A36 material is expected
to replace CTC 6000 overlay products. The hardfacing welding process is carried out using special
electrodes with high hardness, one of which is HV 800 (JIS DF3C-700-B). In welding the type of current
polarity is important, because the electric current and the right welding procedure will affect the quality
and mechanical properties of the weld. This research aims to determine the effect of polarity on the
hardfacing process using HV 800 electrodes on the hardness value, microstructure and wear resistance
properties. Hardness test results on specimens using AC polarity have a hardness value of 648.13
kgf/mm2 and specimens using DCEP polarity have a hardness value of 629.65 kgf/mm2. The wear
resistance test results of the AC polarity specimen wear rate value of 0.82 ?m/hour and the wear rate
value of DCEP polarity specimens of 0.83 ?m/hour. The results of microstructure testing of the
hardfacing layer area were dominated by primary carbide dan austenite.
