Abstract

In the welding process carried out in the field (site) or workshop, generally the welder does not pay attention to the interpass welding temperature because it is to cut down on work time. However, the welder's treatment is not known by the ultrasonic test (UT) operator so that the UT operator does not know what is in the ultrasonic indicator is an indication of chrome carbide or an indication of welding discontinuity. In this research using 304 stainless steel material with FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding) welding process with high interpass temperature to form chrome carbides when slow cooling occurs. To create a DAC (Distance Amplitude Correction) curve, a BCB (Basic Callibration Block) is needed which is made with artificial defects with a drill in the weld-weld area. Before making the DAC curve, a Radiography Test is carried out to find out whether there are defects other than artificial defects.. Therefore, this final project aims to determine the impact of the interpass temperature on the dB indication of the DAC curve.
