This study addresses the critical need for an emergency cooling system at the Acetylene Plant
in Sofifi, where frequent power outages (2–3 times/week) disrupt generator temperature stability. By
integrating a water tower (8000 L capacity) with a centrifugal pump (4 kW) through carbon steel piping
(ASTM A106 Gr.B), the design ensures continuous cooling during outages. The project, scheduled over
36 days using the Critical Path Method (CPM), incurred a total cost of IDR 127,789,169. Structural
and hydraulic analyses validated the platform’s safety and system efficacy, demonstrating a flow rate
of 4154.4 L/h—sufficient to maintain generator temperatures below 80°C. This research underscores
the synergy of engineering design and project management in remote industrial applications.
