Abstract

This study presents static and dynamic analysis of suction and discharge piping systems,
which were identified as critical lines due to their direct connection to rotating equipment. The study
evaluated allowable pipe spans, sustained load , thermal expansion load, occasional load, nozzle loads,
natural frequency, and flange leakage. Using the Kellog method, allowable spans were determined as
12.954 meters for the suction line and 10.801 meters for the discharge line. Stress analysis according
to ASME B31.3 showed maximum sustained load stress of 10,583.10 psi, occasional load stress of
10,586.60 psi, and thermal expansion stress of 9,086.50 psi. Nozzle load results met the manufacturer's
allowable limits. Natural frequency increased from 2.458 Hz to 4.212 Hz after support adjustments,
meeting the 4 Hz minimum standard from DNVGL-RP-D101 and aligning with Energy Institute
guidelines of approximately 25 Hz. Flange leakage analysis based on ASME B16.5 showed stress of
699.84 psi, which remained below the permitted threshold. The redesigned piping system complied with
applicable standards and demonstrated safe operational performance..
