Abstract

This research presents the design and analysis of an aerobic biofilter-based
wastewater treatment piping system for Building K at the Politeknik Perkapalan Negeri
Surabaya (PPNS). The study aimed to produce a detailed technical design, determine precise
pump specifications, and estimate implementation costs. Based on the needs of 390 daily
users, the design wastewater flow rate was determined to be 877.5 liters/hour. Hydraulic
analysis concluded that the system requires a 2-inch diameter pipe, a total system head of
1.349 meters, and a theoretical pump power of 0.003215 kW.
Manual calculations were validated using flow simulation software, which confirmed the
design with a minimal 1,4% error rate, indicating excellent model accuracy. A Shimizu PS130 BIT pump was pragmatically selected due to market availability, despite its capacity
exceeding theoretical needs. The total estimated Bill of Quantities (RAB) for the project is
Rp7.676.329,75, with the storage tanks accounting for the largest portion of the cost.
