Abstract

An Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company based in Sidoarjo, East Java,
conducted a feasibility study in response to a request from an oil and gas company for the addition of a new
pipeline route in Semampir Barat, Surabaya. The proposed pipeline spans 1,700 meters, connecting the port to
the Fuel Terminal (TBBM), and aims to support the rising demand for Pertamax fuel production. Given the
densely populated nature of the project site, a well-structured and comprehensive planning approach is
essential. The primary objective of this study is to design an efficient pipeline system and determine the optimal
pump specifications required to ensure reliable fuel transfer. The head loss along the pipeline was calculated
using the Darcy-Weisbach equation and further analyzed through simulations using Pipe Flow Expert software.
The simulation results indicated a total head loss of 3.20 meters, with a software error margin of 0,19%. Based
on these findings, the total dynamic head required for the pump was determined to be 15.55 meters, with a
software error margin of 1.20%. Future research should explore different software options.
