Abstract

One of the EPC Companies located in Sidoarjo, East Java is working on a project
in Central Kalimantan, namely the construction of a second coal transfer facility, where every
area involving buildings or facilities with a risk of fire must be equipped with an adequate fire
extinguishing system to ensure the safety of occupants and also protect assets. This study aims
to design a fire fighting system of the hydrant and sprinkler type. The stages are pipe routing,
determining pipe diameter, calculating allowable pipe span, determining waterpond capacity,
calculating head system, and 3D modeling using design software. This system uses 8 hydrant
pillars and 23 sprinklers. Hydraulic simulation using fluid analisys software shows a head
value of 179.37 m, while manual calculations show 179.75 m, with an error percentage of 0.2%.
The required pump power is 314.76 kW, and the Grundfos LS 200-150-340Ax2,1F2AQBBVP1
600/4 centrifugal pump was selected.
