Abstract

Corrosion is one of damage causes in piping system. It occurs because it flows fluids in it.
Line number P2GDN21BR003 with A106 Grade C material at a company in
WestJavaexperiencedcorrosion on the inner pipe wall. It flows NaOCl in all lines. To overcome this
condition, a study must be carried out by applying a non-metallic GRP coating. There are three
variations of layer orientation such as 90°, 60° and 30°. Three types of hardener used are chp, mepoxe
and mepoxe-m. Three matrix ratios of 90%, 80% and 70% also supported it. All of them used immersion
test with weightloss method for 336 hours to determine its corrosion rate and lifetime. The result
showed the greatest angle of layer orientation, smallest corrosion rate and longest lifetime. Chp
hardener has the lowest corrosion rate and longest lifetime compared to others. Each hardener has
different characteristics depending on the matrix ratio. Chp, mepoxe and mepoxe-m have the lowest
corrosion rate and longest lifetime at 80%, 70% and 90% matrix ratio. The optimum variation is found
on chp hardener of 80% matrix ratio, 90° layer orientation with corrosion rate of 0.00132 mmpy. Its
lifetime is 5353.70 years
