Abstract

In one of the chemical industries located in Gresik, East Java, a new facility will be built,
namely the new amine production facility. This facility is useful for producing soap raw materials.
Amine is a raw material for soap that must go through a purification process so that the quality of the
product produced is in accordance with customer expectations. So it is necessary to have a distillation
column in the chemical industry. In the amine distillation column design, the results of the calculation
of the thickness used for the shell and head that refer to ASME Sec VIII Div 1 are 0.9325 inches, the
maximum allowable working pressure on the shell and head is 236.018 psi, the maximum allowable
external pressure on the shell and head is obtained. 82,352 psi. The wind load received by the pressure
vessel is 10,210.969 lb and the seismic load received by the pressure vessel is 2189.81 kips which refers
to ASCE 7-10. Analysis of the maximum deflection value due to wind load on a pressure vessel using
Ansys software obtained 1.562 inches and stress skirt support is still within safe limits with a stress
value of 12115 psi. The estimated cost for the construction of the amine distillation column is IDR
625,293,260 and the estimated time required to complete the construction of the amine distillation
column is 110 days.
