Desain Expansion loop pada Line 350-TOHS-1030-C14B-100HC Untuk Distribusi Thermal Oil Heater

Abstract

A cooking oil company has a Thermal Oil Heater (TOH) system to heat oil for several plants.
In this process, there is a 350-TOHS-1030-C14B-100HC line on the pipe rack that distributes the
supply of Thermal oil with a temperature of 310°C. The results of existing conditions modelling show
that the stress value due to sustain load is 26280.7 psi and due to thermal load is 123664.9 psi that
exceeds the allowable stress limit based on ASME B31.3. So comparison of the model is carried out
with the addition of vertical, horizontal, and three-dimensional loop types and varying the type of
support to help reduce stress in the pipe. Static analysis using stress analysis software shows that the
results of the redesign of the vertical loop pipeline with Pipe shoe and U-bolt support has lowest stress
due to sustain load to 6467.7 psi and due to thermal load to 39772.3 psi. Calculation of the redesign
budget plan is needed to determine an effective design. The addition of the Horizontal loop design costs
around Rp. 56,779,472.33, vertical loop Rp. 56,520,159,83, and three-dimensional loop Rp.
69,777,744.83. The results of the analysis are expected to be used as a recommendation for the
company's line redesign.
