A project in adding new lines to the fuel oil pipeline system (Filling Station) from Terminal
Mirah to Terminal Jamrud. Pipe will be laid underground with burial depth +1,5 m (Top of Soil -
Bottom of Pipe). Analysis was carried out on the buried pipeline design installation using uncased pipe
and cased pipe. Stress analysis using manual calculation ,based on API RP1102, and software. For
uncased pipe, stresss due to: earth load 281,330 psi, live load 1174,766 psi (circumferential stress) and
971,715 psi (longitudinal stress), internal load 2243,357 psi, sustain load 2330,4 psi, occasional
seismic 690, occasioanal seismic + wheel load 6933 psi. For cased pipe, stress due to: earth load
1892,724 psi, live load 1712,466 psi (circumferential stress) and 1301,954 psi (longitudinal stress),
internal load 384,544 psi, sustain load 402,6 psi, occasional seismic 47,5 psi, occasioanal seismic +
wheel load 876 psi. Stresses in two pipe conditions are within safe limits according API RP 1102 and
ASME B31.4. Buried pipe installation costs for uncased pipes IDR 1.749.622.000, cased pipes IDR
3.772.387.600. In this case uncased pipe is more recommended for buried pipeline installation work
because the stress is still within the safe criteria and the installation cost is cheaper.
