Abstract

The hydration and filtration piping system transports dehydrates slurry which are mixture
of liquid (corrosive) and solid particles having pipe diameter 14 inch and velocity (V) less than limitdeposit velocity (VL) in the suction pipe and discharge pump causes the fluid not reach the filter.
Therefore, a redesign of piping system was carried out by preserve 312,12 m3/hr of flowrate and
replace pipe diameter. Redesain calculations carried out by manual and software method starting
with determining the pipe diameter according to the requirements V>VL, calculating the corrosion
rate, erosion rate, and lifetime of the pipe material, calculating friction lossess, and selection a pump
as needed. The final result of this research is a reliable piping system with suction diameter 250 mm
and discharge diameter 200 mm, with corrosive fluid the lifetime value of the pipe material is
23,1918 year, pump head for each method are 28,907 m and 28,811 m with a percentage different is
0,33% and pump power are 41,24 Kw and 41,09 Kw with a percentage different calclutaion is
0,36%, and pump efficiency is 84,85%. So pump specifications according to need of piping system is
Warman pump  8-6 SC with flow capacity 2,2-8,5 m3/min, head 6-50 m, with max shaft power is 85
Kw.
