Abstract

PT. Heinz ABC Indonesia is a well-known food and beverage company in Indonesia.
As time goes by, people's needs are getting more and more uncertain, so PT. Heinz ABC Indonesia
every year must always be ready to increase its production. These problems can be overcome, by
increasing the capacity of the heat exchanger in the pasteurization system. In the analysis of the
addition of this capacity, the calculation method on the heat exchanger is carried out to determine the
number of plates needed and also the overall heat transfer coefficient. In addition, it is necessary to
select the appropriate pump head after adding capacity. Based on the calculation of the heat exchanger,
the number of plates needed for each heat exchanger is 87 for the pre-heater, 471 for the heater, 93 for
the pre-cooler, 101 for the cooler, and 99 for the final cooler. Meanwhile, based on the results of the
pump head calculation, the obtained head is 10,774 m at pump 1 and 31,846 m at pump 2. The
calculation results have been validated by comparing the results of manual calculations and
calculations using HTRI software and Pipe Flow Expert software.
