Perencanaan Kicker Line dan Pig Launcher pada Jalur Perpipaan dari Jetty Menuju Storage Tank

At one oil and gas company, maintenance is being carried out on the storage tank that
stores high speed diesel and the pipe that connects it to jetty. Based on observations, there are sludge
in the pipes that interrupt the flow. This sludge is caused by fluid that contains about 0.25% sulphur.
This problem can be solved by installing a pigging system. In this final project, pig launcher design is
carried out so the flow is not interrupted. Pig launcher design requires thickness calculation,
maximum allowable working pressure, nozzle design, and support. Pig launchers need to be ensured
safe when operating by calculating the stress due to internal and external loads. The external load is
caused by the nozzle so it needs to do modelling the kicker line and calculate stress and flange
strength using manual calculations and CAESAR II software. In addition, it is necessary to analyze
the stress using the finite element method using ANSYS software. Based on calculation results, it is
known that thickness of major barrel is 0.365", minor barrel is 0.28", and reducer is 0.365". The
stress value from the calculation using WRC 107 and ANSYS simulation is known that nothing
exceeds the allowable stress. The flange check carried out by the pressure equivalent method also
does not exceed the pressure rating of flange.
