Abstract

The need for chemical raw materials for industry is increasing with the of industry in
Indonesia. Therefore, the new amine production facility itself is designed to produce 20000 metric
tonsof amine comppounds per year, where there isone important unit for preparing raw material feed,
namelyt the alcohol preheat unit. In the alcohol preheat unit there is a pressure vessel, namely crude
reactant vessel that functions as heating container for alcohol, where the alcohol mixes with the vent
fluid and becomes raw material feed. In the design consider internal pressure, external pressure,
maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) and calculation of wind and earthquake loads.
Reviewing the design results based on the code and standards of ASME Section VIII Division I and
ASCE 7-16 as well as modeling and simulation using software. Based on the results of the manual
calculation of thickness for the shell and head 0.6825 inch. The maximum value of deflection due to
wind load is 0.03137 inch and the value of wind stress using software is 2358.2 psi. And the moment
base shear value does not exceed 80% of the base shear due to the earthquake load of 2916.92 kips.ft
> 46.585 kips.ft.
