Abstract

System on distribution pipeline there is Internal corrosion in A106 Gr B pipe with diameter 25.4 mm which is drained by sea water fluid. The way to add inhibitors is the most effective way to prevent corrosion, because of the relatively lower cost and simple process. In this research using natural inhibitors made from guava leaf extract and non-natural inhibitors using potassium chromate, where guava leaves have tannin compounds that function as inhibiting corrosion reactions. Potentiostat method and ASTM G102 were used in this research to obtain the value of corrosion rate, inhibitor efficiency and lifetime. From the test results of the potentiostat method, the most efficient inhibitor was shown at a concentration of 400 ppm with a temperature of 40°C, namely potassium chromate inhibitorwith an efficiency value of 0.438957477%. While at a concentration of 400  ppm with a temperature of 60°C, the guava leaf extract inhibitor was declared more effective with an efficiency value of 0.279026435%. In the lifetime calculation value, the highest value was obtained for potassium chromate inhibitor at a concentration of 400 ppm with a temperature variation of 40°C, which is 25.15 years. while the guava leaf extract inhibitor has a lifetime value of 17 years.
