Abstract

The flowline that connects the production well to the NKL SP of PT Pertamina EP Asset 5 Sangasanga Field is an oil and gas distribution pipeline. The material used is API 5L grade B with a diameter of 4 inches sch 40. The flowline is in a state without support or laydown pipe so that the pipe is in direct contact with the ground. Soil conditions with pH <7 or acidic cause corrosion on the pipe surface. Corrosion can result in a decrease in the quality of the pipe and can be prevented by painting the surface. The painting is chosen based on recommendations from the inspector and the condition of the pipe above the ground. To compare the technical and economic efficiency, variations in the number of layers of paint and the type of paint are used. The types of paint used in coatings are 100mm thick epoxy and alkyd. To find out the quality of the paint layer and the type of paint, the corrosion rate and lifetime calculations are performed. Corrosion rate values are obtained from API 5L grade B material test results using the immersion test method that refers to the ASTM G31-72 standard. The immersion test results showed that the specimen with a coating thickness of 200 μm had the lowest corrosion rate of 0.11209 mm / year and the highest lifetime of 72.3 years. Specimens with a coating thickness of 200 µm require a painting fee of Rp. 61,587.58.
