Drilling new oil wells requires separator equipment as a separator between oil, water and gas in order to become quality oil products. It is necessary to design a vertical heater treater type separator that considers internal pressure, external pressure, Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAWP), calculations of wind loads and earthquake loads. To review the design results against the standards used (ASME SEC VIII Div 1, ASCE 7), modeling and simulation are also carried out using software. Based on the results of manual calculations, the required thickness value for the top head, shell and bottom head is 0.289 inch. Meanwhile, from software analysis, the required thickness value is 0.274 inch for top head, 0.280 inch for shell and 0.279 inch for top head. The maximum deflection value of heater tretaer is 0.063 inch for manual calculation and 0.096 inch for analysis from software. The maximum stress value is 7683.3 psi which occurs on the skirt heater treater.
