Abstract

Designing piping is connected to storage tanks and has a design temperature of 169.88ºF, a pressure of 67 psig which design of piping should consider the storage tank (tank settlement) reduction aspect, because this equipment is one of the equipment that has a large weight. Therefore there is a need to compare 3 different methods to consider the settlement aspects of storage tanks, in order to get the best design. The first method uses spring support, the second adds expansion joint, and the last is the Z design method. All designs are modeled with PDMS software, so that all three designs can issue detailed engineering designs to be drafted in the budget. The design of this design uses ASME B31.3. In CAESAR software modeling, there will be 3 different cases of settlement, namely a settlement storage tanks by 22.23 mm, 75 mm and 100 mm. For nozzles storage tank nozzles in accordance with API 650 limits, and analyzed using CAESAR software. The results obtained from this analysis are the Z design method chosen. although it has the greatest bending stress value compared to other design methods, until it touches the number of 19,849 psi but it is still safe because it is still below its allowance. Moreover, this Z design method has the lowest cost budget plan, which is Rp 572,843,420.
