Abstract

Abstract – Drain line pipe in gas production separator system, has an erosion effect that causing damage on some piping components (3â€x2†blinded tee, 3â€x2†concentric reducer, 2†elbow, 2†pipe and 3†pipe). The damage was affected on 2†ball valve and causing a passing effect through the system.  The erosion was caused by the sand content that flow through the pipe with various amount of the mass rate. To identify the erosion that caused by the sand content, the methods that used was manual calculation using DNV-RP 0501  and software analysis using ANSYS R19.2 Fluent. From the calculation shows that the most damaged component was 2†elbow with the value of the lifetime was 7,73 years at the sand mass rate conditions 0,789 kg/s. From the analysis using ANSYS R19.2 Fluent, The Highest mass loss value was 1,32E-07 kg/m2·s, occurred in closed main line ball valve and opened bypass ball valve condition with 0,789 kg/s sand mass rate. From the cmanual calculation and software analysis, known that higher sand mass that flow through the piping component causing higher material mass loss and lower lifetime of piping component. The solution that given was installing sandtrap near the gas well to decrease amount of sand mass rate that flow through the gas production piping system.
