Abstract

Abstract – An exploration and gas processing company in Sidoarjo are planning to replace the anodic cathodic protection system on existing underground gas pipeline with new current cathodic protection that will be located next to each other. One of the protections become ineffective, without calculating the compared technical value and economic value of each cathodic protection. This research performed to analyze technical and economical of the comparison of each cathodic protection based on NACE RP 0169 Control of External Corrosion of Underground or Submerged Metallic Piping System. From calculation that has been done, that is for cathodic protection using High Potential Magnesium anode are Nw1 = 185 , Nw2 = 192, Nw3 = 198, Nw4= 205, and Nw5 = 212 and each 3 station box. With total cost of 1. 162.731.264, 2. 168.726.288, 3. 173.864.880, 4. 179.859.904, 5. 185.854.928. Meanwhile cathodic protection forced current needs 2 Ti MMO anode for each current density variation, 100 meter power cable from anode to junction box, 200 meter power cable from junction box to rectifier, 200 meter power cable from rectifier to pipeline, 1 set junction box and 1 set rectifier. With the total cost of Rp87.825.222. Thereby the cathodic protection forced current are the most efficient method that applied to underground gas pipeline in exploration and gas processing company.
