Abstract

Applying ergonomics to every job is crucial. Work-related diseases (WRDs) that can occur if ergonomic aspects are not considered in a job include musculoskeletal injuries, also known as Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs). This research analyzes welding work in a construction workshop based on SNI 9011:2021 to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries. According to SNI 9011:2021, the first step in analyzing work posture is to distribute an MSDs survey to workers. The results of the conducted MSDs survey show that 9% of respondents experienced MSD complaints with a high-risk level. Based on this issue, the research continued by analyzing work postures in accordance with Appendix D of SNI 9011:2021. The results from completing the ergonomic hazard potential checklist indicate that the risk level in welding work falls into the dangerous category, with a total score of > 7, specifically 8. Therefore, improvements are necessary to reduce this risk level. The recommended control measure is engineering control, which involves redesigning new work facilities, specifically a table and chair, that are in accordance with the anthropometric data of the Indonesian population. The implementation of this recommendation is expected to reduce the level of ergonomic hazard risk and prevent the occurrence of MSD complaints.
