Analisis Implementasi 5S pada Workshop Perusahaan Galangan Kapal
Abstract
The shipbuilding industry is a strategic sector that supports maritime transportation and international trade. However, shipbuilding companies have a high risk of workplace accidents due to complex work processes and the use of heavy equipment. To address this issue, this study will apply the 5S method (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke) as a systematic approach to create a safer, cleaner, and more organized work environment. This study will analyze the implementation of the 5S method in a shipbuilding company by conducting direct observations in its workshop areas. The research was conducted using a qualitative method based on observations in the maintenance and repair division (HARKAN) workshop, which has five areas. These areas include the construction workshop, the propeller shaft and steering system workshop, the auxiliary system and valve workshop, the machine tool workshop, and the machining workshop. The research findings indicate that the auxiliary systems and valves workshop had the lowest audit score, while the machine tool workshop had the highest score. Company management must improve the 5S work culture, particularly in the shipyard workshop areas.
