Abstract

Eye fatigue is one of the most common health complaints experienced by office workers due to prolonged exposure to visual activities, such as computer use. The Department of Manpower in Gresik Regency is one of the institutions with a high visual workload. However, the influence of inadequate lighting conditions and individual characteristics such as age and eyeglass use on eye fatigue complaints has not been thoroughly studied. This study aims to analyze the effect of age, eyeglass use, and lighting intensity on eye fatigue complaints among employees of the Gresik Regency Manpower Office. This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The study involved 44 employees selected using a total sampling method. Research instruments included the 17-Item Asthenopia Survey Questionnaire (ASQ-17) to measure eye fatigue, a lux meter to measure lighting intensity, and secondary data from the institution regarding the age and eyeglass use of employees. Data analysis was conducted using chi-square tests and binary logistic regression. The results showed that 77% of respondents experienced eye fatigue. The variables of eyeglass use and lighting intensity showed a significant relationship and influence on eye fatigue complaints, with p-values of 0.006 and 0.004, respectively. In contrast, the age variable did not show a significant relationship or influence, with a p-value of 0.635. These findings highlight the importance of managing lighting conditions according to standards and selecting appropriate eyeglasses to support eye health and work productivity
