Abstract

Fertilizer companies are closely related to manual handling work, many ergonomic problems are found in the companies. This can be seen through from initial study of 22 workers in the fertilizer packing section, it was found that MSDS complaints of moderate risk with a percentage of more than 30% occurred in the arms, hands, calves, shoulders, upper back, lower back, hips, and legs. While high-risk MSDS complaints were found in the arms, shoulders, upper back, lower back and hips. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a further ergonomic assessment analysis, to identify ergonomic risks to muscle and skeletal disorders in the workforce. This study was analyzed using the SNI 9011:2021 guidelines, starting from the MSDS assessment interview, assessment of potential ergonomic factor hazards, and assessment of worker activities in the fertilizer bagging sub-job. After all risks are assessed, the work station is modified and the appropriate work duration is arranged. The results of the study on the potential ergonomic factor hazards of the fertilizer bagging sub-job got a score of 12 points, this is included in the dangerous category so it needs to be studied further and need an improvements. Improvements were made by modifying the workstation using CATIA software, which was then re-assessed for potential ergonomic hazards. The results of the re-assessment of potential ergonomic hazards after control were carried out obtained a score of 1 point and entered into low ergonomic risk. This study aims to determine the potential ergonomic hazards that can cause musculoskeletal disorders and to determine recommendations for improvements to reduce these hazards.
