Perancangan Alat Pemadam Api Ringan dan Detektor di Ruang Rapat Perusahaan Maintenance Gerbong di Jawa Tengah
Abstract
A railway carriage maintenance company has significant fire hazard potential, particularly in areas adjacent to logistic warehouses and are infrequently visited by personnel. This research aims to evaluate the need for Portable Fire Extinguishers (APAR) and design a detector system in two specific meeting rooms: the Bogie Meeting Room and the Quality Control (QC) Meeting Room. The method used is a qualitative approach beginning with a Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) according to NFPA 551 guidelines to identify hazards. APAR requirements were evaluated based on the ordinary hazard classification per NFPA 10, while the smoke detector design was based on placement standards to maximize performance. The analysis results show that the Bogie Meeting Room (138.7 m²) and the QC Meeting Room (149.3 m²) each require 1 unit of a 2-A rated APAR, with the CO2 type being recommended to handle potential class A and C fires. Furthermore, the detection system design recommends the installation of 2 smoke detector units in the Bogie Meeting Room and 2 units in the QC Meeting Room to ensure effective early detection in enclosed spaces sensitive to smoke
