Penilaian Risiko dengan Metode Layer of Protection Analysis pada Unit Proses Oksidasi di Perusahaan Kimia

Abstract

The process of making Phthalic Anhydride (PA) uses the main raw materials, Ortho Xylene (OX) and air. One of the important processes of PA manufacturing is the oxidation process unit. The reactor in the oxidation process has a high level of hazard risk because the raw materials, oxidants and products involved in the oxidation process have flammable and explosive characteristics. This research uses the Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) method to identify potential risks that may occur and the highest risk value will be continued with the Layer Of Protection Analysis (LOPA) method to evaluate the adequacy of existing layers of protection. The results of the analysis using HAZOP carried out there are 4 consequences with high risk and of the four consequences there are two consequences that need to be controlled after the LOPA analysis is carried out.
