Abstract

This research aims to develop an efficient and accurate web-based information system for managing employee competency data in the oil and gas industry. The operational complexity in this industry poses various hazards, including noise, chemical hazards, biological hazards, and mechanical hazards. According to 2021 data, there were 75 work accidents in the upstream oil and gas sector, with human factors (Unsafe Actions) being the primary cause. Worker competency, demonstrated through certification, plays a crucial role in reducing these accidents. However, manual recording of competency data often leads to errors and inaccuracies. This study proposes the development of an information system using PHP, MySQL, and phpMyAdmin, supported by the Laravel framework and local server XAMPP. This system enables the recording, monitoring, and scheduling of workers based on their competencies. The implementation involves multiple actors with different roles and access levels, including admins, SSHE, coordinators, and managers. The adoption of this information system for managing worker competency data is expected to ensure that workers perform tasks according to their valid competencies and certifications, and facilitate various company stakeholders in managing and verifying competency data in real-time. The research results indicate that this system can enhance operational efficiency and ensure that workers have valid certifications appropriate to their job types, thereby reducing the risk of workplace accidents. Implementing this system is expected to improve real-time competency data management, support compliance with safety standards, and enhance overall company performance.
