Abstract

The Goliath crane is one of the largest lifting equipment with a capacity in the shipyard company located in Surabaya. The Goliath crane has a lifting and carrying capacity of around 300 tons and serves as the sole lifting tool for both ship and non-ship construction and repairs. Based on information regarding component failures in the company, the issue encountered with the Goliath crane is component damage leading to disruptions in the production process. Previous incidents include failures in the wire rope components resulting in core wire breakage, impacting worker safety and productivity. This research aims to identify hazards and assess the risks generated by critical components of the 300 tons goliath crane. It is conducted by analyzing failure data and conducting expert interviews using the FMECA (Failure Mode, Effects, and Critical Analysis) method. The FMECA analysis yields criticality ranking values, which are further analyzed using a Pareto diagram. From this analysis, 3 failure modes with the highest criticality numbers are identified as top priorities, namely box panel 1,5768, Anti-Collision Sensors 1,2264, and Variabel Freuquency Drive (VFD) 1,0512.
