Abstract

A fertilizer industry company, committed to upholding occupational health and safety (OHS) principles, faces high risks inherent to its chemical operations, such as lifting, jetty activities, chemical hazards, and fire hazards. Jobs with significant potential hazards require enhanced attention and monitoring to prevent accidents and undesirable losses. Accordingly, preventive and systematic control measures, including a work permit system, are necessary to ensure the safety of high-risk tasks. The conventional work permit system, however, is ineffective for the company due to its manual implementation, resulting in poor inspection reporting, insecure document storage, and inefficiency. Adopting a web-based work permit management information system can enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the work permit process. This system, designed with a responsive web interface, provides easy and flexible accessibility via both computers and mobile devices, utilizing PHP and MySQL technologies. Compared to the traditional work permit, the proposed web-based approach streamlines the validation process, allowing the supervisor, area manager, and safety inspector to perform their steps simultaneously, thereby improving the overall efficiency of the work permit application.
