Abstract

This research designs a river tour boat with a DC motor based paddle wheel drive system as an
alternative to noisy conventional outboard motors. Calculation of ship resistance is carried out using the
Holtrop method, while stability analysis uses Maxsurf Stability software. The design includes paddle wheel
dimensions, mechanical transmission system, and ship's electricity. The result design tour is boat with Lpp :8,1
m, B :1,9 m, T : 0,3 and Vs : 8,5 Knot have a resistance 3 kN. With these results, the DC motor-based paddle
wheel system is proven to be feasible and efficient to use on river tour boats
