Abstract

A battery is an energy source consisting of one or more electrochemical cells with external
connections to power electrical devices. The use of batteries has several disadvantages such as
having a lifespan, chemical waste and having to be refilled. Therefore, the use of hydrogen is a fuel
cell system. offers many advantages. This includes higher energy yield, greater energy density, zero
emissions and no need to recharge. The first step in operating the tool is to prepare the catalyzed
water, then prepare the electrodes which are connected by electricity. The hydrogen produced will
be filtered and entered into the PEMFC device to be converted into electrical energy. This research
aims to design and study a Hydrogen Generator Fuel Cell system with a focus on the quality of
hydrogen production with variations in catalyst and electrode shape. The results include metrics
such as electrolyzer and fuel cell efficiency, power density, break-even ratio, and specific fuel
consumption (SFC). The highest electrolyzer efficiency was achieved using a NaCl catalyst with a
hollow rectangular electrode, showing a value of 1,61%.
