Abstract

Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) is used as a technology to switch the power source from PLN to Genset in case of power outage. Currently, the activation of the Genset is still done manually. The standby power source system is connected to a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Human Machine Interface (HMI), to facilitate control and without activating generator manually. The standard delay time for activating the generator based on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 110 Standard for Emergency and Standby Power System is a maximum of 10 seconds. When the source from PLN goes out, the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) will switch the lever from the PLN position to the Genset and will activate the Genset. When the PLN source is on, the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) will switch the lever from the Genset position to PLN and will disable the Genset. The time used to switch the power source from PLN to Genset auto mode is 4.93 seconds and manual mode is 5.35 seconds. The time used to move the power source from Genset to PLN auto mode is 0.91 seconds and manual mode is 1.42 seconds.
