Abstract

The issue of fuel usage occurs a lot on today in large ships, including the KCS ship. And the B5-80 propeller was chosen as the object because it has good efficiency and performance. the skew angle modification is carried out on this propeller to reduce the pressure on the propeller. the high skew angle is believed to increase efficiency compared to conventional propellers. In addition, engine propeller matching is carried out to find the optimal operating point between engine load and propeller rotation. epm calculation aims to achieve the planned service speed. Purpose of this research received the perfoemance of the propeller and KCS ship with the best efficiency so that it can reduce fuel use in the world,  CFD simulation is used as an analysis method as a description of fluid distribution flow to obtain propeller performance with variations in skew angle, thereby obtaining propeller recommendations with the best skew angle and optimal epm calculation.
