Abstract

Abstract - Ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) is a renewable conversion system that uses seawater as fuel. OTEC overcomes the problem of global warming and electricity scarcity. with this problem, the development of OTEC prototypes is carried out by designing simple prototypes. This research focuses on the OTEC prototype system and pump, the pump used is a type of piston compressor according to the availability in the lab. fluid, the initial design makes a cooling system by simulating the seabed 5-10 ? and simulating the seawater surface of the OTEC system temperature ranging from 25-30 ?.

This research is expected to develop knowledge, power value and obtain a suitable pump and with the effect of variations in the output valve opening of the multistage compressor pump on the efficiency produced by the OTEC system.
