Abstract

Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) is a type of power plant that utilizes the temperature difference between seawater at the surface and seawater at a depth of 1 km. Although suitable turbine components are not yet available, this type of power plant aids in the exploration of alternative energy sources. Addressing these issues, this research focuses on the creation and development of an OTEC system by creating a prototype of the OTEC system. The study involves designing a simple prototype simulation of the OTEC system by replacing the turbine component with a scroll compressor and then modifying the compression chamber and motor. The results of the prototype OTEC system research showed a COP value of 4.099, an OTEC system efficiency of 24.33%, and an electrical power output of the prototype OTEC system of 0.0048 VA
