STUDI NUMERIK PENGARUH SUDUT STAGGER SILINDER DI DEPAN RETURNING BLADE TURBIN ANGIN SAVONIUS DENGAN SUDU OVERLAP BERPROFIL MYRING n=1
Abstract
In the previous experimental studies, additional overlap using Myring equation n=1 and variations in the cylinder stagger angle in front of returning blade of Savonius wind turbine could not display flow visualizations such as velocity contours, streamline velocity, and pressure contours. Based on these conditions, this numerical study was conducted using Computational Fluid Dynamics method. The simulation is performed to validate the experimental results, determine the coefficient of torque (Ct), coefficient of power (Cp), and visualize the turbine flow. The diameter and height of the turbine used are 400 mm with an overlap ratio of 0.3. The stagger angle variations of cylinder are 45°, 50°, 55° and 60° with 6 m/s wind speed. The best turbine performance occurs at a stagger angle of 60°, with an increase up to 19.39% of CP value compared to the Savonius wind turbine with Myring overlap n=1 without a stagger cylinder, with a Cp value of 0.394 at Tip Speed Ratio of 1.
