Abstract

Axial fan is mostly used in ships and shipyard. Since there are many requests of it from ships or shipyard, it encourages local entrepreneurs to make their own axial fans. Unfortunately, the axial fans used had no values of pressure, discharge, efficiency and so on. Its performance is also influenced by number of blades and angle of attack.  Therefore, a   research in the form of simulation was conducted to determine the effect of blades and angle of attack number to axial fan performance. The variation number of blades is 7, 8, and 9. The variation angle of attack refers to the previous research i.e. 35° and 40°. Simulation of axial fans are carried out using 3D modeling based on CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). It is done to know the flowrate and power coefficient values on the axial fan. The final result is the most optimum flowrate and power coefficient values are in the variation of 7 blades and 35° angle of attack so that it can be developed to improve the local axial fan performance.
