Abstract

Patrol vessels are relatively small naval vessels designed for coastal defense and border guarding. KAL Cadet VIII-08 is one of AAL's patrol vessels that has a slightly different function, namely to support the “Sea Week End”. Monitoring ship maintenance, including the air conditioning system, is crucial to maintain the optimality and reliability of the ship. This research focuses on the importance of reliability prediction to schedule maintenance. In this study, failure identification using Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) was carried out and 39 components of the system were obtained. The components are identified into a series and if a failure occurs in a particular component, it causes a failure in the system. The reliability value in this study uses the theoretical analysis method and because there are zero-failure components so that the reliability index is determined by the Bootstrap Resampling method. Furthermore, three critical components were obtained, namely the commander's room seawater condenser, the officer's lounge room seawater condenser, and the member's lounge room evaporator based on the calculation of the component with the smallest reliability value.
