Analisa Pengaruh Salinitas Dan Ketebalan Coating Terhadap Laju Korosi Pada Plat Baja Karbon
Abstract
The ship is one of the main transportation operating in the waters used by the Indonesian state, its
operation in the waters causes corrosion in the hull made of carbon steel which is damaged, namely corrosion.
Then the protection needed by the coating method. The material used in this study is KI Grade A carbon steel.
The material is coated with a coating that is given a variation of coating thickness of 150 μm, 200 μm, 250 μm,
300 μm, 350 μm and then used for immersion test testing with the standard of ASTM G31-72. Specimens were
tested with variations in salinity of 3.3%, 3.4%, 3.5%. Based on the results after testing the corrosion rate with
weigh loss method, the specimen with a thickness of 150 µm at 3.4% salinity has the highest corrosion rate
value of 0.46263 mm / year. While the lowest corrosion rate occurs in specimens with a coating thickness of
350 μm and salinity of 3.3% which is equal to 0.19655 mm / year. Based on the results of remaining life after
testing, the highest remaining life value was found in specimens with coating thickness of 350 μm and salinity
of 3.3%, namely 3,84211 year, while the lowest remaining life values were found in specimens with 150 μm
thickness and salinity 3, 5% is 1,16021 year.
