ANALISA PENYEBAB KEPATAHAN CONNECTING ROD PADA  MAIN ENGINE MV. INTAN DAYA 9

A general cargo vessel named MV. Intan Daya 9 suffer damaged and have to work on docking.

The damaged occurs in main engine on these vessel which operated for just 8 years is rupture on cylinder

block caused hit by connecting rod that fractured due to operation and force it keep doing translation

movement. In order to find out the caused of it, review of journal is conducted for seeking approach

probability caused that damage.

Several related journal was collected and to be analysed for choosing one of probability that might has

same condition with the real one. Outcome from analysed and discussion those journal is reveal some

condition and factors that often being the caused fracture of connecting rod. Material defects, error due

installation process, and lack of lubrication system is kind of it.

Based on result from analysis and from most enable approach method, it can be concluded that the fracture

of connecting rod main engine of MV. Intan Daya 9 was caused by lubrication system not working properly..
