KAJIAN EKSPERIMEN PENGARUH VARIASI SUDUT STAGGER PENGHALANG SILINDER SIRKULAR PADA SISI RETURNING BLADE TERHADAP KINERJA TURBIN AIR SAVONIUS

Abstract

Savonius vertical turbine is one of correct solutions for producing electrical using renewable energy such as wind and water flow. Savonius turbine can be applied to the flow of water to produce mechanical energy from the kinetic energy of the water flow. This research will use an experimental method by combining two different blades which result from a variation of value (n) in the myring equation n=1 and n=2. Th turbine used has a height of 40 cm and diameter size of 40 cm. In addition, the turbine will be tested in an artificial channel with a length of 2000 mm, a height of 1000 mm, and width of 1000 mm at a current speed 0.2 m/s with S/D value of 1. In front of the returning blade side will be given a circular cylinder as a intruder with diameter 16 cm which which serves to improve the performance of the turbine. Stagger angle is varied at 0º,15º,30º,45º, 60º,75º, dan 90º. The results obtained from this study are the highest torque coefficient (Ct) of 0.30504, and the highest power coefficient (Cp) of 0.1357. the result obtained in the test variation ds/ d=0.4 and 60º stagger. This variation can increase the performancce of savonius turbines by 26.85% when compared to conventional savonius turbine.
