Abstract

Pipeline is a connecting network system for fluid transport of from one place to another. Sometimes the pipeline passes through the river, railroad crossings and highways so there needs to be a special method to go through it. This case study is a 20-inch pipeline line that passes through the wax river using the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) method. This final project is done by HDD design calculation to be more effective because minimize budget based on variation of exit and entry angle and natural bend radius by manual calculation and also using Pipeline Toolbox software with result that is Total Pulling Load, Individual Load, Combined Load, and Operating Stress. In this study aims to directional horizontal drilling design can be used as a reference for the next project. The results of manual and software calculations must meet the allowable value of each point based on PRCI, from the results of this study obtained an effective design with variation of entry angle 10, exit angle 10, and 435m natural bend radius with a total cost of  Rp 4.522.800.000 and pulling load of 123296.824 lb
