Abstract

Sulfuric Acid Plant is found in factory III PT. Petrokimia Gresik. There is a problem with the sulfuric acid pipe that is the occurrence of evenly distributed corrosion. In this study will prove the effect of the selection of inhibitors on the corrosion rate on the sulfuric acid pipe. This study use the Immersion Test method where to determine the corrosion rate with the weight loss method by comparing NaNO3 and K2CrO4 inhibitors starting from testing without inhibitors, 150 ppm, 250 ppm and 350. Test variations also use temperature variations with 45°C, 55°C and 65°C. Then continued the calculation of the corrosion rate and efficiency of the inhibitor. The results of the tests have shown that the greatest corrosion rate found in NaNO3 inhibitors with a concentration of 150 ppm and a temperature of 65°C with a value of 23.84mpy. While the smallest corrosion rate found in K2CrO4 inhibitors with a concentration of 350 ppm and a temperature of 45°C with a value of 0.89mpy. Judging from the efficiency value where the highest efficiency value is owned by K2CrO4 inhibitors at 350 ppm inhibitor concentration and 45°C temperature with a value of 0.77%.
