In the Flare KO Drum piping system to the Flare Stack with a diameter of 16 inches and a design temperature of 200 ° F. There is a nozzle load value exceeding the allowable nozzle load limit during the design review, so a re-analysis must be carried out on the piping line based on ASME B31.3. The analysis includes the calculation of the maximum allowable pipe span, stress analysis due to sustained, occasional, and thermal expansion loads, flange leakage analysis, and new nozzle load analysis. The calculation results for the maximum allowable pipe span were
39.468 ft. The highest stress for sustained loading was 2,367.9 lb/in2, occasional was 4,556.4 lb/in2, and thermal expansion was 26,359.3 lb/in2. Flange leakage analysis showed a maximum value of 229.02 lb/in2, still below the ASME B16.5 limit. The addition and placement of pipe support was carried out, the force and moment values on the nozzle have met the allowable nozzle load limits with forces on the Fx, Fy, and Fz axes of 917 N, 328 N, and 2,501 N, and the resultant moments on the Mx, My, and Mz axes of 1,414 N.m, 271 N.m, and 559 N.m.
