Abstract

One of the contractor companies is carrying out an expansion building project at a company engaged in the production of skin care. In its implementation, there are lines of pipes that must be relocated due to the expansion of roads and the construction of storage tanks. In the design process, the company must consider the head loss and head pump against the existing pump specifications. The problems that will be discussed in this study include calculating head loss and head pump manually and using pipe flow expert software. The result showed that manual calculations obtained a head loss value of 0.33 m and a head pump value of 8.338 m, while calculations using software obtained a head loss value of 0.47 m and a head pump value of 8.471 m, with a percentage error in manual and software calculations of 1.57%. Based on the calculation results, the existing pump is still safe and can still be used because the maximum pump head value is 9.2 m and the required shaft power value ranges between 0.099 - 0.116 kW with a maximum shaft power limit of 0.4 kW. The percentage of pump also increased by 7.67%.
