Pengaruh Variasi Tekanan, Waktu, dan Jenis Abrasive Material Terhadap Faktor Kebersihan Pada Proses Pembuatan Ducting Exhaust
Abstract
A petrochemical company in Gresik, East Java plans to increase its sulfur production capacity to support
fertilizer production in Indonesia. Air ducting are needed to distribute SO2, SO3 and SO4 compounds remaining
from processing sulfur products which are corrosive to a designated place. In the exhaust ducting process, the
fabricator requires proper handling in terms of surface preparation of the material because the material has started to
rust so it needs to be cleaned so that the painting can adhere optimally to the surface of the material and create a
sufficient roughness and cleanliness profile. The company wants a minimum surface cleanliness level of SA 2.5
based on the ISO 8501-1 standard. The test results show that the pressure and time variables have an effect on
cleanliness, the greater the pressure, the better the cleanliness level, while the abrasive type variable has a different
effect, where volcanic sand material is better in terms of roughness and silica material is better in terms of
cleanliness. Based on these results, it can be recommended a pressure variation of 6 bar, a time of 20 seconds, and the
type of silica sand abrasive material used because the results have reached company standards.
