Abstract

This study analyzes the re-engineering and remaining life calculation of storage tanks based on the acceptance criteria for tank settlement. Re-certification of storage tanks, as regulated by the Ministerial Regulation No. 37 of 2016, is a mandatory process that must be conducted at least every five years. The primary focus of this research is a storage tank that has been in operation for 8 years. The methodology includes visual evaluation, design data collection, settlement calculation, and determining the minimum wall thickness of the tank. Additionally, damage mechanism analysis and risk assessment were conducted to estimate the remaining life of the tank. The results indicate that meeting all the required documentation for re-certification allows the tank to continue operating, with an estimated remaining life of 18.103 years for the long term (LT) and 9 years for the short term (ST). This re-engineering process not only ensures regulatory compliance but also acts as a preventive measure to identify and avert potential accidents in the future.
